Reconciliation: From Flag to Feather Quill Pen

“150+ A Feather of Reconciliation”, from 32 Points – 32 Voices: A Compass of Peace, September, 2019, Cedar Ridge Gallery, Toronto.

To me, Peace begins at home. This 150 cm long feather is offered to the indigenous peoples across Canada, in the hope for full reconciliation and restitution. Made from a single shredded Canadian flag that we displayed in 2017, the end has been carved into a pen nib for the signing of new treaties. The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, attended the opening, and we spent a lot of time discussing this piece. Also pictured is Wendy Cooper-Parkinson, the Curator of the show.
